Opposition leader Raila Odinga on Saturday visited Tigania in Meru county at the invitation of local ODM leaders.

The CORD leader addressed the issue of dwindling Miraa fortunes after the stimulant was banned in the United Kingdom and several other European countries.

Raila promised to help Miraa farmers in Tigania secure new markets in Africa key among them Tanzania where his longtime family friend, John Maghufuli, is now President.

Mr. Odinga also belittled President Uhuru Kenyatta's offer of Kshs 1 billion to Miraa farmers, to cushion them from the effects of lost markets, saying Miraa farmers did not need subsidies but markets.

He also dismissed President Uhuru's burning of Ivory in Nairobi on Saturday terming it a Public relations exercise. He asked the President to name those who are behind the Ivory trade in Kenya saying President Uhuru knows them
