Water Shortage Hits Meru Town

The Meru Water and Sewerage Services (MEWASS) has announced that residents of Meru will experience water shortage occasioned by the onset of the rainy season. Ironically, the shortage has nothing to do with lack of water but the need to manage the effects of the expected heavy rains.

Silt and mud normally clogs water pipes and drainage during rainy seasons. There is need to therefore manage the amount of water flowing through the pipes. Increased water pressure as a result of heavy rainfall might also lead to busted pipes. To effectively manage the effects of the expected el-nino rains, MEWASS will employ water rationing tactics.

Meru residents have been advised to store water for later use when the rationing starts.
