Governor Peter Munya has scoffed at allegations that he is Kiraitu Murungi's project.
Mr. Munya was responding to a question posed to him during a TV interview as to why he seemed to be isolating himself yet Senator Kiraitu Murungi campaigned for him during the 2013 elections.
"Wasn't he campaigning for himself?" governor Munya wondered in a rhetoric answer to the TV presenter's question. Munya was referring to the fact that both of them were campaigning for themselves and so none of them required the help of the other.
For the first time also, governor Peter Munya has said that he will fight it out with Kiraitu Murungi for the governorship should he decide to challenge him for the seat in 2017. "I am not afraid and I am ready for him." said the governor when asked if he was weary of Kiraitu's expected entry into the race.

Several people have suggested that Peter Munya should step down for Kiraitu to avoid dividing the Imenti and Tigania communities. However Munya has intimated that he will defend his seat at all costs.
