The Inspector General of Police, Joseph Boinnet, has issued a statement warning against setting off Fireworks during the New Year festivities without a written permit from the ministry of mining and the police.
The directive, he says, has been issued as a result of terror threats. This is meant to ensure that Police officers know where to expect fireworks.
The I.G has also urged Kenyans across the country to be on the look out for any extraordinary activities during New Year celebrations and alert the police in case they note something.
