Only delegates and registered participants, exhibitors and media included, were allowed into the venue for the 2016 Devolution Conference in Meru.
Security was tight and anyone without an accredited badge was not allowed past the security barrier at the Meru National Polytechnic main gate.

The decision to keep the public out left many exhibitors fuming. Various booths at the exhibition gallery recorded few visitors. Some exhibitors chose to close earlier than expected due to the low turn out.
Many residents were disappointed by the inability to access the venue even to experience the benefits of hosting the highly publicized event.
