The much anticipated visit to Meru by former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, will not happen as planned. The visit was cancelled at the last minute and a vague explanation was communicated to the media by one of the organizers. Mike Makarena, a political activist, confirmed postponement of the tour indefinitely because of what he said was a need to give Mr. Odinga more time to iron out some issues surrounding his visit.

The visit was planned to take place in the Miraa growing regions of Igembe and Tigania. Miraa sales have suffered since the stimulant was banned in Britain and several other countries in Europe. Mr. Odinga was expected to touch on the issue during his visit.

Details have also emerged of a possible meeting that took place on Friday between the ODM leader and organizers of the Meru tour in which the decision to postpone the visit was taken.
