Meru County government is worried by the number of new Cancer cases being reported in the county every year.
The new cases have reached an alarming level according to Meru first Lady Phoebe Munya. The governor’s wife was speaking at Buuri Sub county while on a mission to sensitize Meru women on the need to go for screening.
Meru county government has bought an Immuno-Chemistry Machine for Meru Referral Hospital that is currently being used to detect cancer markers.
The Cancer screening program introduced by the county government is being carried out in all the administrative Wards of Meru county. Those who are found with the symptoms are taken to Meru level five hospitals for further analysis and medication.
